FLORJAT 30% INJ

FLORJAT 30% INJ

Florfenicol is a new broad- spectrum bacteriostatic antimicrobial agent structurally related to Thiamphenicol. It acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit in the bacteria and Mycoplasma, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It is active against gram positive and gram negative bacteria in animals.
Florfenicol contains fluorine at the 3’ carbon position, which reduces the number of sites available for bacterial acetylation reactions to occur, possibly making the antibiotic more resistant to bacterial inactivation. Florfenicol lacks the p-NO2 group that could be contributing to the induction of Aplastic anemia associated with Chloramphenicol use in humans.
